Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time to win the FIFA World Cup for the second time in the nation’s history. Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match in the 106th minute, securing the title for La Roja.
The final remained goalless throughout regular time before substitute Torres broke the deadlock in the second half of extra time with his first goal of the tournament.

Spain dominated much of the match but had to wait until the 106th minute to find the breakthrough against the defending champions, denying Lionel Messi what is expected to be his final World Cup title bid.
