Media: Body of woman suspected in Monaco attack on Ukrainian businessman found near Kyiv

The body of a woman suspected of carrying out the bombing attack on sanctioned Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaev in Monaco has been found near Kyiv, as reported by the independent Ukrainian outlet Ukrainska Pravda, citing law enforcement sources.

Based on the report, the woman, who had been shot dead, was found late on July 6.

One source told the outlet that two suspects have been detained: an active officer of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) and a former law enforcement officer. The information has not been officially confirmed.

Ukrainska Pravda also reported that the deceased woman had been outside Ukraine from March 22, 2025, until July 1, 2026.

The explosion occurred outside Yermolaev’s home in Monaco on June 29. Yermolaev, his 13-year-old son, and a female companion were injured, two of them seriously.

Surveillance footage captured a person leaving an explosive device outside the house. Investigators later identified the suspect as a woman who left Monaco for France after the blast before traveling to another European Union country.

French media reported that the suspect was a Ukrainian citizen. On July 3, Monaco’s Director of Public Security, Eric Arella, officially confirmed that the suspect was 39-year-old Ukrainian national Anastasiia Berezovska, who is wanted by Interpol.

Media reports say that investigators are pursuing two main theories: a conflict between Yermolaev and Ukrainian criminal groups, or possible involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services.

Yermolaev, founder of the Alef industrial and commercial corporation in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, has regularly appeared on Forbes Ukraine’s list of the country’s 100 richest people. In 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky imposed sanctions on Yermolaev. Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) said his company operated in Russian-occupied Crimea and paid taxes to Russia. Ukrainska Pravda reported that Yermolaev also renounced his Ukrainian citizenship in favor of a Cypriot passport.
