Household spending in Georgia has increased, with average monthly expenditure reaching 1,936 GEL per family, according to data published by Geostat.
The figure equals around 603 GEL per household member per month. Overall expenditure rose by 11.6% in 2025, or about 200 GEL per household, while spending per person increased by 63 GEL, Geostat said.
Food remains the largest spending category, with its share in total household expenditure rising to 38.7% in 2025, up from 38.1% in 2024.
Transport accounts for 11.4% of total spending, followed by utilities at 11.3%, healthcare and medicines at 11%, clothing at 5.8%, and durable goods such as furniture and electronics at 5.1%. Education makes up 2.9%, while other consumer expenses account for 13.7%.
Spending patterns vary between urban and rural areas. In rural regions, food accounts for 41.6% of total expenditure, compared to 37.5% in cities.
Overall, food remains the dominant category of household spending nationwide, representing 38.7% of total cash expenditures.
