A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Georgian Post and the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice, as part of which up to 50 selected letters written by teenagers participating in the Universal Postal Union’s International Letter Writing Competition will be transferred to the National Archives.
Importantly, these letters carry rare experiences and content related to the pandemic and a unique message to future generations.
The International Letter-Writing Competition of the Universal Postal Union organized by the Georgian Post with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia was held for the 8th time this year.
At the event held at the Georgian National Museum, the jury revealed 3 best works, in addition, the authors of favorite letters of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Education and Science were revealed.
Importantly, the work of the first place winner is sent to the ‘World Postal Union’ and will be included in the international competition program. As a result, the award ceremony for the author/country winner of the World Postal Union International Competition will be held on October 9, 2021, International Post Day, at the headquarters of the World Postal Union (Bern – Switzerland).
Levan Chikvaidze, Director General of the Georgian Post, Valeri Lomuashvili, Deputy Minister of Justice and Teona Iashvili, Director General of the National Archives addressed the guests at the event.
