Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zurabishvili, has announced she will join the protest rally scheduled for Sunday, June 29.
She called on all sectors of society — party members, activists, parents, NGOs, and those who don’t protest daily — to take part, stressing the importance of broad civic unity.
“This week has been especially difficult — so many political prisoners in just a few days. Even globally, few countries have seen such a wave. But this is no reason to retreat. On the contrary, it proves our strength,” Zurabishvili said.
She emphasized that the imprisonment of nearly all Platform leaders reveals how much the resistance unsettles the authorities. “That’s why the response must be stronger unity and one more step forward.”
Zurabishvili urged everyone to gather at 8:00 p.m. on Rustaveli Avenue: “We must stand together. I will be there, and so will you. Our unity will show the real strength of Georgian society and the resistance. That is the only dignified response for a dignified future.”
