The United Kingdom has announced a new £30 million ($41 million) package aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s resilience following months of intensified Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure.
In a statement released on Monday, the Foreign Office said the funding would help Ukraine recover from what it described as “a brutal winter of Russian strikes plunging civilians into freezing darkness.”
Based on the statement, the financial support is intended to assist with the restoration and protection of critical infrastructure, including energy systems severely damaged by repeated missile and drone attacks. Russian strikes over the winter targeted power plants and heating facilities across the country, causing widespread outages and leaving millions of Ukrainians without electricity and heating during sub-zero temperatures.
London said the additional funding underscores the UK’s continued commitment to supporting Ukraine in the face of ongoing Russian aggression.
The United Kingdom has been one of Kyiv’s key backers since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, providing military assistance, humanitarian aid, and economic support. British officials reiterated that they will continue to stand with Ukraine as it works to restore damaged infrastructure and protect civilians from further attacks.
