Republic Square in Yerevan turned into a large open-air dance floor on April 29, as thousands gathered to celebrate International Dance Day, The Armenian Report says.
Around 4,000 participants joined the event, titled ‘Festive Round Dance with 7 Circles,’ bringing together dancers from across Armenia. The celebration featured performers from the Vanush Khanamiryan Union of Dance Artists of Armenia, along with numerous dance groups and students from higher and secondary educational institutions.
The event centered on traditional Armenian round dance, a cultural practice in which participants form circles and move together in rhythm. The performance highlighted the role of dance in preserving national traditions and promoting unity.
Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, addressed the occasion in a message.
“Every year on April 29, Yerevan lives and breathes with dance,” Andreasyan said. “This year as well, the capital has turned into a large dance platform, offering a festive celebration to residents and visitors.”
The event once again transformed Republic Square into a space filled with music and movement, underscoring the importance of dance in Armenia’s cultural life.
