The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, arrived in Georgia on an official visit, accompanied by his wife and a state delegation.
Vučić was welcomed at Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport by Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili.
Kvrivishvili said the visit is particularly important for strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries. She also noted that it is a historic occasion, as it marks the first visit to Georgia by a Serbian president.
“The visit of the Serbian President will have a very important impact on strengthening trade and economic relations between our countries. The visit includes important bilateral meetings, including between the leaders of the two states,” Kvrivishvili said.
The minister noted that Georgia and Serbia are currently holding negotiations on a free trade agreement.
“I would like to emphasize that this agreement will be of great importance for both countries. Trade turnover will increase, and it is particularly important to highlight the progress achieved during the negotiations. We believe this could become a precedent-setting decision, with two states signing a free trade agreement in such a short period of time. It will promote trade and economic relations, increase exports from Georgia, and contribute to the further development of our economy,” she added.
