Supporting education is one of TBC’s key strategic priorities. As part of its long-term commitment to empowering young people, TBC continuously creates and supports initiatives that help the next generation discover, develop, and realize their potential.
One such initiative is the Tech Olympiads Hub of Georgia, a joint project by TBC and the Business and Technology University (BTU), designed to identify talented students interested in technology, mathematics, and programming, and prepare them for success on the international stage.
The Tech Olympiads Hub brings together students from across Georgia, providing them with knowledge, mentorship, and experience aligned with international standards. While participation in international Olympiads was once accessible to only a relatively small number of students, the Hub significantly expands these opportunities and makes high-quality technological education more accessible throughout the country.
The impact of such initiatives is reflected in the story of Tsotne Tabidze, whose journey demonstrates how curiosity, determination, self-belief, and a supportive environment can lead to international success.
Tsotne’s passion for mathematics began in childhood and later evolved into a deep interest in programming while studying at the Andria Razmadze Kutaisi Physics and Mathematics School No. 41. Following multiple successes in national Olympiads, he became a member of Georgia’s national team in the ninth grade.
Over the years, Tsotne earned four bronze medals, one silver medal, and one gold medal at international Olympiads in Informatics and Mathematics, including one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in Informatics. His gold medal, won in 2010, was particularly significant, as it marked the first gold medal in the history of independent Georgia at the International Olympiad in Informatics.
“When you spend years working on difficult problems, fail, try again, gradually improve, and finally achieve results, you develop the confidence that with enough determination and discipline, anything is possible,” says Tsotne Tabidze.
His achievements at international Olympiads opened the door to further education in the United States, where he continued his studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Today, he works at one of the leading technology companies in the U.S.
Tsotne’s story is a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of education, hard work, and equal access to opportunities.
Creating more stories like his is at the heart of the Tech Olympiads Hub’s mission. The initiative aims to provide students from every region of Georgia with access to the same opportunities, regardless of their background or location.
In a message to future Olympiad participants, Tsotne offers simple but important advice:
“Don’t be afraid, and don’t think that this is only for some ‘exceptionally smart’ children.”
Great achievements often begin with curiosity, a newly discovered opportunity, and belief in one’s own potential. Although the path may seem challenging at first, the most important step is believing that with dedication, knowledge, perseverance, and courage, even the impossible can become possible.
