Sofo Cherkezishvili’s personal exhibition to open at ATINATI’S Culture Center

A personal exhibition of Sofo Cherkezishvili is to open at ATINATI’S Culture Center on Friday, February 9, at 6pm.

The works of Sofo Cherkezishvili (b. 1971) are generally feminine personal diaries; the imagination of the author presented in bright colors. In her works, the same woman’s face is repeatedly featured, though with differing expressions, emotions and in varying contexts. The artist also uses the Georgian font in her works.

“Why women? I talk about my feelings through them. What am I creating? I observe, listen and talk to the people around me. I am interested in both existing and non-existent places,” Cherkezishvili says.

ATINATI continues its cycle of exhibitions of works preserved in its collection. The exhibited paintings are from a series made in different periods: “Caucasus was thinking about me”, “Why does the grass grow on my head”, “One minute is enough to see a whole life”, “If you need it, even ships stop”, “The heart is on the left”, “Know that I am not waiting for you”, and others.

Sofo Cherkezishvili is a Georgian artist who graduated from the Art Academy and then continued her studies in Amsterdam, Holland, at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. She now works as a teacher and regularly participates in both local and international exhibitions.
