According to Temur Mgebrishvili, head of the emergency management service, the number of people who died as a result of the natural disaster in Shovi has increased to 19. A female body and another body fragment were found in the river today.
“We confirm that a female human body was found in the river, and another body fragment was also found. Additional mobilization is underway at a specific location to further expand the search and rescue area. At this stage, it is early to talk about identification”, Mgebrishvili noted.
Sixteen people remain missing, while 210 were safely moved from the disaster zone.
A deadly landslide struck the resort on August 3.
