Samtskhe-Javakheti will host ‘Gemo Fest’ on June 6–7 in the area surrounding Rabati Fortress in the town of Akhaltsikhe.
The festival aims to promote local cuisine, showcase the region’s rich culinary traditions, and support the development of gastro-tourism in southern Georgia. Visitors will have the opportunity to taste traditional dishes and locally produced products from across Samtskhe-Javakheti, while local chefs, family wineries, farmers, and small businesses will present regional specialties.
Alongside its gastronomic focus, the festival is expected to feature cultural and entertainment activities, including live music, exhibitions, and presentations highlighting the traditions and heritage of the region. The setting around the historic Rabati Fortress, one of Georgia’s best-known medieval landmarks, will provide visitors with a unique atmosphere combining history, culture, and cuisine.
“Gemo Fest” is being held for the fourth year under the organization of the Georgian National Tourism Administration, as part of ongoing efforts to encourage domestic and international tourism and strengthen Georgia’s growing reputation as a culinary travel destination.
