Former President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has reacted to the arrest of the former head of the State Security Service, describing the developments as evidence of “terror” and “Russian-style rule” in Georgia.
In a post published on X, Zurabishvili wrote that the former security chief—whom she described as the right-hand man of Bidzina Ivanishvili—was arrested earlier today.
“Terror in Georgia — Russian rule in Georgia: Minister for state security, right hand of B. Ivanishvili has been arrested this morning. Two former prime ministers are under investigation, a former defense minister and a former deputy economy minister are in jail… Ruling by fear, Russian way!” Zurabishvili stated.
Her comments come amid a wave of high-profile investigations and arrests involving current and former senior officials, which critics say reflect increasing political pressure and selective justice in the country.
