Money transfers from the United States to Georgia reached unprecedented levels in the first five months of 2025, reaching $263 million, an increase of $44 million, or 20%, compared to the same period in 2024. So far, May has seen the highest monthly inflow, with $59 million transferred from the U.S., a 25% year-on-year rise.

This dramatic growth in money transfers is related to an ongoing migration from Georgia to the United States. For comparison, total annual remittances from the U.S. stood at just $218 million in 2020. That figure rose steadily in the following years:

  • $284 million in 2021
  • $327 million in 2022
  • $460 million in 2023
  • $573 million in 2024

If the current pace continues, remittances from the U.S. are projected to hit $700 million by the end of 2025.

Overall, Georgia received $1.399 billion in remittances between January and May 2025, a 1.7% increase year-on-year. The US accounted for the largest share at 19%, followed by Italy with $244 million (16%) and Russia with $177 million.
