PM: Ivanishvili Was Creator, Defining Power of Georgian Politics

“It is the most important example of how power may be given away when the population of your country supports the political power that you lead third time ever in a row by legitimizing and mandating it to govern the country,” stated Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia when commenting on the exit of Bidzina Ivanishvili from politics today.

As the Head of Government of Georgia noted, it is common knowledge that Bidzina Ivanishvili was a creator and defining power of Georgian politics in recent years.

“Bidzina Ivanishvili officially announced today about his resignation from the Chairmanship of the Georgian Dream and exit from politics. Of course, it is common knowledge that Bidzina Ivanishvili was a creator and defining power of Georgian politics in recent years.

“The most important thing is that it is the most important example of how power may be given away when the population of your country supports the political power that you lead for the third time ever in a row by legitimising and mandating it to govern the country.

“Of course, it is the most significant example and will serve as a role model for the future development of our country. This mandate that the Georgian Dream received for the third time ever in a row in the history of Georgia is not accidental and this trust has an explanation. Bidzina Ivanishvili has a most significant role in this trust, of course. This role has led to the establishment of justice in the country in the past eight years. This role has positioned an individual and human dignity in the center of the Georgian politics,” noted Giorgi Gakharia.

He pointed out that irrespective of the fact that time has been difficult and challenging, significant progress was still possible in the last eight years.

“During these eight years, we all together achieved significant progress irrespective of the most difficult and challenging times. It has manifested in the protection of human rights, performance of the law-enforcement system, operation of the healthcare system, Euro-Atlantic advancement of our country. All of these are what the Georgian electorate has once again voted for,” noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

In the opinion of the Head of Government of Georgia, the pandemic was yet another example of Bidzina Ivanishvili always standing by the side of his people and citizens of the country when needed most of all.

“Pandemic was yet another example of Bidzina Ivanishvili always standing by the side of his people and citizens of the country when needed most of all, showcasing his tremendous role in curbing the pandemic. We all understand it well that the future advancement of our country is a huge responsibility for the team that our citizens supported in the elections and which was shaped by Bidzina Ivanishvili. In addition, most significant achievement that was made possible in the last eight years is an absolutely parliamentary democracy through a proportional election system, which none of the political powers managed to attain since regaining independence in Georgia. It is a basis ensuring further democratic development of the country and it is great merits to Bidzina Ivanishvili, of course,” he concluded.

For the record, Bidzina Ivanishvili, the chairman of the Georgian Dream, has resigned and left politics. He today addressed the public with an open letter about his decision.
