The Civil Aviation Agency released data on Georgia’s air travel sector which shows strong post-pandemic growth trajectory, with passenger numbers across the country’s airports reaching nearly 6.5 million in the first nine months of 2025, a 14% increase compared to the same period last year.
Tbilisi International Airport remained the primary hub, handling almost 4.1 million passengers, up 12% year-on-year. Kutaisi International Airport followed with about 1.4 million passengers (+10%) while Batumi International Airport posted the highest growth rate among major terminals, 32%, serving 995,099 travelers between January and September.
Air freight volumes also rose sharply, with around 26,000 tons of cargo transported through Georgian airports, a 50% increase over 2024 figures. Meanwhile, total airspace activity, including take-offs, landings and overflights, grew by 5%, reaching 229,972 flights.
Wizz Air Hungary maintained its leading position in the Georgian market, carrying more than 1.06 million passengers and securing a 17% market share. Georgian Airways followed with 8%, while Turkish Airlines and Pegasus each accounted for about 7%.
