Lawyer Nika Simonishvili reports that 51 additional fines of 5,000 GEL each have been handed over in the case involving 71-year-old opera singer Paata Burchuladze, bringing the total to 142 fines and 710,000 GEL.
He explains that the fines were issued between October 2 and 10 but could not be delivered earlier due to communication restrictions following Burchuladze’s arrest.
Simonishvili adds that before the arrest, 90 fines issued by the patrol police and one court ruling had already been handed over.
He notes that all fines have been appealed, adding that Burchuladze remains confident and is not intimidated by the penalties.
Burchuladze was sentenced to seven years in prison in the October 4 case.
