Norwegian launches first scheduled flights to Georgia

Norwegian, Norway’s largest airline and the second-largest carrier in Scandinavia, has launched its first scheduled service to Georgia, marking its entry into the country’s aviation market.

Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development says the airline’s inaugural flight landed at Tbilisi International Airport, where it was welcomed by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani.

The low-cost carrier will operate the Copenhagen–Tbilisi–Copenhagen route twice a week, expanding direct air connectivity between Georgia and Northern Europe.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Levan Moseshvili, Director General of the United Airports of Georgia, and Tea Zakaradze, General Manager of TAV Georgia, which operates Tbilisi and Batumi international airports.

The ministry noted that passenger traffic between Georgia and Europe continues to grow steadily. During the first five months of 2026, a total of 952,480 passengers traveled between Georgia and European destinations, an 18% increase compared with the same period last year.

Ministry says at the peak of the 2026 summer aviation season, airlines will operate flights between Georgia and Europe on 46 routes, with approximately 170–175 weekly frequencies, reflecting continued growth in the country’s international aviation sector.
