Meeting of Shalva Papuashvili with New Head of NATO Liaison Office

Chairman of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with a new Head of NATO Liaison Office, Alexander Vinnikov.

The Chairman of the Parliament congratulated Mr. Vinnikov with the appointment and noted that his personal efforts and support will be particularly important for Georgia on the Euro-Atlantic integration path. He expressed his gratitude to the intact support of NATO to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and for its merit in the improvement of the defense capacity of the country.

The parties discussed NATO-Georgia relations.

Papuashvili underlined the significant progress of Georgia on the NATO integration path and overviewed the contribution of Georgia in ensuring the common Euro-Atlantic security.

Vinnikov noted that NATO supports the goals of Georgia in reforming and expects respective progress.

Papuashvili condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine and stressed the grave security situation in the region. As he noted, the NATO integration of Georgia and Ukraine is of utmost importance today.

Vinnikov expressed his commitment to productive cooperation.
