“Matsuri” pop-culture festival will return to Tbilisi, promoting modern Japanese and East Asian subcultures, including anime, manga, cosplay, contemporary Japanese fashion, K-pop and esports, alongside elements of traditional Japanese culture.
The festival, supported by the Japanese Language and Culture Center, has been held since 2015.
Organisers say visitors will be able to take part in activities such as Japanese calligraphy (shodō), origami and omikuji fortune drawing, while also exploring traditional and modern Japanese cultural spaces.
A food zone will offer Japanese dishes prepared by Japanese chefs, while market stalls will sell items including manga, anime figures, posters, traditional sweets and other Japan-related merchandise.
The programme also includes cosplay and K-pop dance competitions.
Doors will open at 18:00. Tickets are available via TKT.Ge at 50, 60 and 70 GEL, depending on category. Children under five will be admitted free of charge. Tickets are non-refundable.
