Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze says an estimated 20,000 illegal migrants are currently in Georgia, adding that the government’s goal is to reduce the number to zero.
“As an estimate, there are about 20,000 illegal migrants in our country. Of course, our goal is to reduce this figure to zero,” Kobakhidze said while presenting the government’s annual report to Parliament.
The PM also stated that, based on a study by the US Department of State, Georgia remains in the top tier for combating human trafficking.
