Georgia recorded a net migration gain in 2025, a notable shift after years of population outflow. A total of 131,501 immigrants entered the country during the year, while 114,374 individuals left, resulting in a positive migration balance of 17,127 people.
The data indicates a reversal in trends among Georgian citizens, with more returning than emigrating. In 2025, 62,073 Georgian nationals returned to the country, compared to 58,799 who left, producing a net gain of 3,274 citizens. This contrasts with the broader pattern observed over the past decade: between 2015 and 2025, Georgia experienced a cumulative net loss of 240,428 citizens, with emigration peaking in 2023 at a net outflow of 73,600.
Foreign migration patterns also contributed to the overall positive balance. Among Russian citizens, 20,139 individuals immigrated to Georgia in 2025, while 19,226 departed, resulting in a net increase of 913 long-term residents.
Migration from Ukraine showed a stronger upward trend. In total, 6,937 Ukrainians arrived and 3,658 left the country, creating a net gain of 3,279. Indian nationals also contributed to population growth, with 5,685 arrivals and 4,456 departures, leading to a net increase of 1,229 residents.
