Georgia collected GEL 23.7 million in road usage fees in January–February 2026, a 3% decline compared to the same period last year as international freight traffic showed signs of slowdown.
Official data shows a total of 67,736 trailers used Georgian roads during the two-month period, down from 69,998 trailers recorded a year earlier. The decrease in traffic volumes has directly impacted state budget revenues generated from transit and road usage fees.
In February alone, 36,375 trailers passed through the country, contributing GEL 12.7 million to the budget. While the monthly figure remains substantial, the broader trend points to a gradual decline in transit activity.
Looking at the full-year context, road usage revenues reached GEL 171.2 million in 2025, with 489,391 international trucks recorded. This was slightly below 2024 levels, when 512,665 trailers used Georgian transit routes, indicating a continuing downward trend in freight movement across the country.
