Eurostat says Georgian citizens were among the top nationalities returned from EU countries to non-EU states in 2025.
10,475 Georgian nationals were returned from the European Union last year, placing Georgia among the top countries of origin alongside Türkiye, Syria, and Albania.
The agency says 135,460 third-country nationals were returned to non-EU countries in 2025, marking a 20.9% increase compared to 2024.
Germany recorded the highest number of returns, followed by France and Sweden.
Eurostat also reports that 132,600 third-country nationals were refused entry at the EU’s external borders in 2025, up 7.1% year-on-year.
At the same time, the number of people found to be illegally present in EU countries declined by 21.7%, falling from 918,525 in 2024 to 719,395 in 2025.
