Passenger traffic on Georgian Railways decreased in the first quarter of 2026, data published by Geostat shows.
Georgian Railways served 302,000 passengers in the first three months of the year, down 14% compared to the same period in 2025.
Cargo transportation also declined slightly during the reporting period. In the first quarter of 2026, Georgian Railways transported 3 million tons of cargo, down 0.03% year-on-year.
Geostat says 56.7% of transported cargo was transit freight, while 34.7% accounted for international shipments excluding transit and 8.6% for domestic shipments.
