A total of 997,529 international tourists visited Georgia in January–March 2026, up 4% (38,582 visits) compared to the same period last year, preliminary data show.
At the same time, overall international travel remained slightly lower. Georgia received 1,300,505 international visitors, a 1.1% decrease (14,323 fewer visits) year-on-year.
The highest number of visits in the first quarter came from Turkey, with 238,368 arrivals.
Georgia also recorded a historic high in EU and UK visitor numbers, reaching 96,226 visits, up 30.2% year-on-year. Growth was driven by increases from Germany (+37.6%), Poland (+34.3%), the United Kingdom (+45.7%), Italy (+70.7%), and several other EU countries.
Strong growth was also recorded from key markets, including China (+48.6%), the United States (+19.3%), and South Korea (+67.2%).
At the same time, visitor numbers declined from Iran (-48.8%), India (-29.5%), and Israel (-17.5%), which authorities attribute partly to regional instability and flight cancellations.
Despite this, arrivals from Gulf countries increased overall by 8.2%, with notable growth from Saudi Arabia (+36.3%) and Bahrain (+20.9%), while declines were recorded from the UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar.
