Georgia highlighted for its regional role at Turkmenistan Forum

At the ‘Peace and Trust: Shared Goals for a Sustainable Future’ forum in Turkmenistan, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze presented Georgia as a resilient and forward-looking nation positioned at crossroads between Europe and Asia. He emphasized that, despite global economic and geopolitical turbulence, Georgia has emerged as a notable success story in the wider region.

Kobakhidze pointed to the country’s strong economic performance in recent years, mentioning that between 2021 and 2024, Georgia recorded an average growth rate of 9.8 while GDP per capita more than doubled compared to 2020. As the Prime Minister stated, these results reflect the government’s long-term strategy built on peace, stability and sustainable development.

A major theme of his speech was Georgia’s expanding regional role. Kobakhidze emphasized the country’s commitment to both physical and diplomatic bridges among neighboring states. He mentioned ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation across the region and to position Georgia as a reliable connector between markets and cultures.

Central to this vision is the Middle Corridor, the strategic route linking Asia and Europe. Kobakhidze described it not only as a vital trade pathway but also as a ‘corridor of trust’ that enhances economic interdependence and deepens connections among people, businesses and cultures across the continent.
