The party ‘Gakharia — for Georgia’ signed the “Georgian Charter” proposed by the President of Georgia.
Until now, together with Girchi, Giorgi Gakharia’s party ‘For Georgia’ remained among the opposition forces that had not signed the presidential charter.
On May 26, President Salome Zurabishvili presented a plan of steps that the signatory parties of the document should take after winning the elections.
The Georgian Charter envisages the abolition of laws harmful to the European course of the country, including the “Russian law;” amnesty for those demonstrators who participated in the 2024 protest; implementation of vetting for judges, and; reform of the Supreme Council of Justice, law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies.
The signatories undertake to fulfill the conditions written in the charter before the end of the first spring session and to hold early parliamentary elections. In addition, the interim government, which will be responsible for the implementation of this action plan, should be nominated by the President of Georgia.
