The National Food Agency of Georgia has suspended the production process of “Food Gallery” after receiving information about suspected food poisoning cases involving 36 people.
The agency said it launched an investigation after being notified by the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health.
An unscheduled inspection was carried out at LLC “Food Gallery in Georgia” in Kutaisi, which produces and sells ready-made meals delivered through a diet food menu service.
The company produced items including rice with chicken, omelette, vegetable salad with chicken, tiramisu and other ready-made dishes.
The National Food Agency said critical non-compliance issues were identified during the inspection, resulting in the suspension of the company’s production activities and the imposition of a fine.
Additional instructions were issued for laboratory testing of equipment, hygiene procedures and staff.
Food samples, including rice with chicken, mushroom omelette, chicken salad cocktail, tiramisu and chicken dishes, have been sent for microbiological testing. The agency says results will be published once they are available.
