Condition of 13 foreign tourists injured in western Georgia bus crash remains stable

The condition of the 13 foreign tourists injured in a passenger bus accident near the village of Argveta in western Georgia remains stable, Geo Hospitals announced.

The Zestaponi Multidisciplinary Medical Center said three of the injured were admitted in the most serious condition, including a 17-year-old girl who sustained multiple injuries and a concussion. Two patients are currently being treated in the intensive care unit.

Hospital says all emergency services were placed on full alert after receiving notification of the crash.

“Receiving 13 injured patients at the same time is one of the most difficult challenges for any clinic. However, the coordinated and professional work of our team enabled us to provide timely and highly qualified medical care to every patient,” said Irakli Lagidze, Director of the Zestaponi Multidisciplinary Medical Center.

He said emergency medicine, intensive care, surgery, traumatology, neurology and diagnostic teams were all mobilized to respond to the incident.

Lagidze added that the injured are foreign nationals who were traveling from Tbilisi to western Georgia on a tourist route.

The accident occurred on 26 July on the Kutaisi–Zestaponi road, when a passenger bus veered off the roadway, injuring 13 people.
