Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance says it has uncovered three criminal cases linked to corruption and financial crimes, resulting in the arrest of six individuals.

The agency states that two public officials in Tetritskaro municipality were arrested on bribery charges.

Investigators claim the mayor’s representative and a chief specialist in the village of Jorjiashvili accepted a bribe from a citizen in exchange for promising assistance in arranging a camping area for foreign tourists on state-owned land.

The agency says audio and video evidence was obtained and money was seized as evidence. The investigation is underway under Article 338 of the Criminal Code, which carries a prison sentence of 7 to 11 years.

In a separate case in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, the investigation service says three people — a pharmacy manager, a pharmacist and a doctor — were arrested on charges related to illegal entrepreneurial activity involving psychotropic medications.

Investigators allege pharmacies in two locations systematically sold psychotropic drugs subject to special control without the required permits or prescriptions, with assistance from a neurologist at a local clinic.

The agency says large quantities of psychotropic medications and cash were seized during the investigation.

Authorities are investigating the case under Article 192 of the Criminal Code, which carries a prison sentence of 3 to 5 years.
