Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has started an investigation after numerous citizens reported receiving suspicious emails falsely attributed to the head of the Patrol Police Department.
As the official official statement declares, both the Public Safety Command Center ‘112’ and the Patrol Police Unified Service Center have received calls from concerned recipients.
“The Public Safety Command Center ‘112’ of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Patrol Police Unified Service Center have received multiple phone calls from citizens,” the MIA confirmed.
The emails, described as ‘ambiguous’ by recipients, appeared to come from the Director of the Patrol Police Department. However, the MIA was quick to deny the authenticity of the messages.
“These messages were not sent by the Director of the Patrol Police Department, and we urge the public not to be misled,” the Ministry clarified, adding that “this matter will be examined by the appropriate service.”
The source and intent of the emails remain unknown as authorities begin their investigation.
