An explosion occurred in a residential building for displaced persons in Ortachala, as a result of which one person died and four were injured. One of the four injured citizens is a child.
As the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Levan Mgaloblishvili, told journalists at the scene of the incident, the child’s condition is stable, while the condition of another victim is relatively serious.
“We are at the scene of the incident, a sad fact has occurred. One citizen has died. We express our condolences to his family and relatives.
“The most important thing for us now is to accommodate the population and, together with City Hall and the Ministry of Health, we are doing everything possible for this.
“It is likely that there was a gas leak, the exact causes will be established by the investigation,” Mgaloblishvili noted.
The explosion occurred on the fourth floor of the building. As a result of the explosion, the facade and walls of the residential building collapsed.
