A commotion took place at Tbilisi City Court as supporters of Tornike Skhvitaridze demanded a larger courtroom and the removal of police from the premises. The unrest started as a result of limited public access to the trial due to the room’s small size.
Skhvitaridze is charged with insulting police officer Mirian Kavtaradze under Article 173 of the Administrative Offenses Code. He is the brother of Saba Skhvitaridze, who faces charges of assaulting the same officer.
It is still uncertain whether authorities will seek administrative detention, as they did in related cases of Miranda Baghaturia and Ana Kurashvili.
