Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Bochorishvili, will participate in the 62nd Munich Security Conference, scheduled to take place on February 13–15.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia announced that the minister will hold bilateral meetings with her counterparts from various countries, as well as with representatives of international organizations. She is also expected to take part in a panel discussion within the framework of the conference.
The Munich Security Conference is one of the world’s leading forums on international security policy, bringing together heads of state, foreign and defense ministers, senior policymakers, and experts to discuss global security challenges and geopolitical developments.
Maka Bochorishvili said the Munich Security Conference presents an important opportunity for Georgia to strengthen its partnership with Europe.
Speaking to journalists, Bochorishvili stated that the conference provides a platform for Georgia to communicate its priorities and vision regarding European security.
“The Munich Security Conference is an opportunity for Georgia to develop a more serious partnership aimed at the well-being of both Europe and Georgia,” she said.
Minister added that Georgia intends to actively present its position on regional and European security issues during the event.
“We should speak as much as possible about our priorities — what Georgia wants, how we see European security, how we see ourselves as part of European security, and what contribution Georgia makes to what is being discussed in Europe today,” she noted.
Bochorishvili emphasized the importance of Georgia being taken seriously by its partners in order to establish a stronger and more meaningful partnership framework.
She also highlighted that a number of thematic events are planned within the conference agenda, including a discussion dedicated to connectivity and the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor in the context of European security.
Minister claimed that presenting Georgia’s role in the Middle Corridor is particularly important.
“It is important for us to present Georgia from this perspective and to speak about Georgia’s importance in the Middle Corridor, as well as the significance of the Middle Corridor for Europe today and for connecting Europe and Asia,” Bochorishvili said.
