PM Irakli Kobakhidze to skip Davos 2026 Economic Forum

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze will not attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Georgian government administration has confirmed.

Government says the Prime Minister did not receive an official invitation to participate in the forum, which is scheduled to take place on January 19–23, in Davos, Switzerland.

The World Economic Forum annually brings together global political leaders, heads of international organizations, business executives, and economic experts to discuss major challenges facing the world economy, geopolitics, security, climate change, and technological development.

Georgia’s absence from the Davos platform is not unprecedented. The Georgian delegation did not take part in the forum last year either, amid a period of strained relations with several Western partners and heightened political scrutiny of the country’s democratic trajectory and foreign policy orientation.

In previous years, Georgian leaders used the Davos forum as an opportunity to promote the country’s investment potential, economic reforms, and strategic role as a regional transit and energy hub linking Europe and Asia. The lack of participation in consecutive years marks a notable shift from that earlier engagement.
