Kakha Kaladze responds to US senators: “They are under influence of the Global War Party”

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has responded to a joint statement by US Senators Jim Risch and Jeanne Shaheen, asserting that they are under the influence of the so-called “global war party.”

Kaladze emphasized that Georgia’s goal is to reset relations with the United States to establish genuine friendship and partnership.

“These people are also under the influence of the ‘global war party.’ We have stated many times—and I will repeat it again—that we support President Trump in defeating the ‘deep state.’ Let’s see whether he succeeds. At the same time, we are ready to start relations from a new page,” Kaladze said.

He added that Georgia’s approach is aimed at a bilateral partnership, not a one-sided relationship: “This is our message, our attitude, and our desire to reset relations so that we can have friendship and partnership, which should of course be mutual.”

The statement by Senators Risch and Shaheen criticized the ruling Georgian Dream party for allegedly undermining democracy in Georgia, not the United States. The senators called it unacceptable that the Georgian government has accused former US officials of interfering in Georgia’s governance.
