Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedow on the sidelines of a United Nations conference in Awaza, Turkmenistan, the Georgian Government Administration has announced.
Based on the official statement, the leaders discussed bilateral cooperation across various sectors, with particular attention to the expansion of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
The conversation highlighted the growing partnership in the energy sector, especially the potential role of the Southern Gas Corridor in facilitating the transit of Turkmen natural gas to European markets.
The meeting also underscored the importance of regional peace and stability, with both sides stressing the need for continued efforts to maintain a secure and cooperative environment.
As a gesture of deepening diplomatic ties, Prime Minister Kobakhidze extended an official invitation to President Berdimuhamedow to visit Georgia.
PM Kobakhidze is attending the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, hosted in the coastal city of Awaza.
