Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has confirmed his intention to seek re-election, releasing a message to the opposition.
“I plan to run for mayor, and I am determined to defeat all of you radical groups,” Kaladze declared. “I will prevail and, together with the Georgian people, put you back in your rightful place, where you naturally belong.”
Kaladze downplayed the significance of the opposition’s participation in the upcoming election, calling it ‘ultimately irrelevant.’ His comments show a combative start to the pre-election period.
