The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has issued a public alert about a possible drop in the water level of the Mtkvari River in Tbilisi, as rescue efforts to retrieve a vehicle that was swept into the river overnight with passengers inside.
Emergency crews, including firefighters and rescue personnel, responded swiftly to the scene and managed to save one individual. Divers are currently searching for other missing passengers. To aid the operation, all available rescue units have been mobilized, and steps are being taken to gradually lower the river’s water level.
The MIA is urging Tbilisi residents to steer clear of the area near the Ortachala Hydroelectric Power Plant for safety reasons.
