By 12:00 PM, four hours after polling began, 776,726 individuals had voted in the parliamentary elections, representing 22.2% of registered voters, according to the Central Election Commission (CEC).
This turnout is 2.81 percentage points higher than in 2020, but lower than the 25.88% recorded at the same time in 2012, when the Georgian Dream party came to power.
In 2020, the turnout at noon was 19.41%, with 681,583 votes cast, and the final turnout for that election was 56.11%, with 1,970,540 eligible voters participating.
In today’s parliamentary elections, 3,508,294 Georgians are eligible to vote across 3,031 polling stations. Polls will close at 8 PM, and preliminary official results from the largely electronic voting will be released shortly thereafter.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) plans to announce the final results by the morning of October 27, following a manual recount of all ballots.
