“I can very briefly say what I told Giorgi Gakharia after hearing his briefing – this decision is harmful to our team, but, what I find even more unfortunate is that it is more damaging to him personally.” – MP Tea Tsulukiani
After the few-weeks break due to Covid-19 related health issues, a former Minister of Justice, currently MP Tea Tsulukiani appeared in Parliament and addressed the journalists today. She commented on a former PM’s resignation:
“I can very briefly say what I told Giorgi Gakharia after hearing his briefing – this decision is harmful to our team, but, what I find even more unfortunate is that it is more damaging to him personally.
Tsulukiani mentioned that arresting Melia was the only right legal way and the police showed excellent professionalism when peacefully conducting the operation.
“As for Nikanor Melia, prison will not bring him any political benefits. No politician can make a political career out of their time in prison.”
Tsulukiani also commented on the current political crisis in the country: “As for the so-called political crisis, I think it is an artificially created tension by the extremist group – opposition that refuses to enter the parliament.”
MP added that she does not see any reason or ground for reconciliation with the opposition parties, but considers the dialogues have no alternative at this point.
