The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, said in an interview with CNN that it is an exaggeration to say that there is a big difference of opinion between her and the Georgian government, but noted there may be differences in the vocabulary that government uses.
“If you come to Tbilisi, you will see that people support Ukraine. There are many Ukrainian flags in the city and many initiatives are coming from citizens to demonstrate that Georgians are in solidarity with Ukraine,” Zurabishvili said.
The President also spoke about the supply of weapons to Ukraine, adding: “this makes me smile, because Georgia is not really a country that can supply arms to Ukraine. There are many other countries that are protected by Article 5 of NATO, that can provide military assistance to Ukraine and do so. This is very important. These countries must do everything they can. In this regard, I agree with the President of Ukraine and say that whichever countries can provide more military assistance to Ukraine, they should do so.”
