A car crashed into the yard of the Georgian Patriarchate, damaging a barrier and breaking the gate.
TV Imedi reported that eyewitnesses claimed that the driver made insulting remarks toward the Church and the Patriarch during the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the case remain unclear.
The Ministry later confirmed that one person had been arrested in connection with the incident near the Patriarchate yard.
An investigation has been launched under Article 187 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which concerns property damage.
Based on available information, the vehicle crashed into the Patriarchate yard, destroying the entrance gate. The area has since been cordoned off with yellow tape.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
