Russian forces launched attacks on several Ukrainian cities early this morning, violating a ceasefire announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, based on Ukrainian media reports.
The reports state that explosions were heard in the city of Dnipro just minutes after the ceasefire regime officially came into effect. Russian strikes were also reported in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy and the Donetsk Region.
Reportedly, civilian infrastructure was damaged and several people were injured as a result of the attacks.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a temporary ceasefire for May 8–9 to mark Victory Day celebrations commemorating the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II.
In response, Zelensky declared that a ceasefire on the Ukrainian side would come into force starting from midnight on May 6.
The claims regarding the latest attacks have not been independently verified.
