Tbilisi hosted the European Judo Championships, where the Georgian National Judo Team delivered a historic result, finishing first in the overall standings.
Georgia won a total of seven medals — four gold, two silver, and one bronze — marking its best-ever performance at the continental tournament.
For the first time, Georgian judokas secured four gold medals at a European Championship, producing four European champions in a single edition.
Eteri Liparteliani (-57 kg), Lasha Shavdatuashvili (-73 kg), Luka Maisuradze (-90 kg), and Guram Tushishvili (+100 kg) claimed gold medals.
Giorgi Sardalashvili (-60 kg) and Tato Grigalashvili (-81 kg) won silver, while Ilia Sulamanidze (-100 kg) took bronze.
The championship was held from April 16 to April 19, bringing together more than 400 athletes from 46 countries.
Georgia hosted the European Judo Championships for the second time, with the tournament previously held in the country in 2009.
