The President of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, met with the President of the Central Bank of China, Pan Gongsheng, during meetings held in Shanghai.

The sides discussed economic and financial cooperation between Georgia and China, ongoing collaboration in financial markets and services, and opportunities to deepen future partnership.

They also reviewed progress achieved under the memorandum of understanding signed between the National Bank of Georgia and the People’s Bank of China last year.

Turnava said cooperation between the two central banks has significantly deepened since the signing of the memorandum, particularly in the development of financial markets and services, including efforts related to the diversification of international reserves.

The meeting also covered trade and economic relations between the two countries. China remains one of Georgia’s largest trading partners, with strong growth in exports, imports, Chinese investment, and tourism flows.

“Economic cooperation between China and Georgia is developing dynamically, which creates a solid foundation for further deepening our cooperation in the financial sector,” Turnava said.

Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue active cooperation to further strengthen financial and economic ties between Georgia and China.
