The President of the National Bank of Georgia, Natia Turnava, has been elected chair of the Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and Eastern Europe (BSCEE) for 2027.
Turnava was unanimously elected to the position during the group’s 38th annual conference, held in Moldova from May 27 to 30.
She will officially serve as BSCEE chair from December 16, 2026, to December 15, 2027.
The National Bank of Georgia noted that it will host the 39th annual BSCEE conference next year for the third time, highlighting Georgia’s active involvement in the organization.
BSCEE aims to strengthen cooperation among member countries in the field of banking supervision, facilitate the exchange of experience, and promote financial stability.
The National Bank of Georgia joined the organization in 2013. BSCEE brings together 25 banking supervisory authorities from 24 countries, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Türkiye, Armenia, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Kazakhstan.
Under BSCEE rules, the chairing country is elected annually on a rotating basis from among member states. Georgia previously held the position in 2018 and 2022.
