Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has stated that the ongoing war in Ukraine represents a major challenge for the modern world and claimed that specific countries and political figures are working against efforts to end the war.
“The current war is a great challenge for the modern world,” Kaladze told journalists. Referring to recent diplomatic developments, he recalled that following the election of Donald Trump, one of the key promises made by the US president was to end the war and defeat what he described as the “Deep State.”
Kaladze claimed that negotiations on ending the war are currently underway, but face significant obstacles. “There are challenges, as certain countries and politicians oppose ending the conflict. This makes things difficult for Ukraine. I wouldn’t wish their situation on the enemy. Hopefully, a resolution will be reached, and the war will stop,” he said.
Kaladze’s remarks come amid broader international debate over the prospects for peace in Ukraine. Recently, Tulsi Gabbard, the US Director of National Intelligence, stated that so-called “Deep State warmongers and their propaganda media” are attempting to undermine President Trump’s efforts to bring peace to Ukraine.
Gabbard also claimed that NATO and the European Union are interested in escalating the war in order to draw the United States military directly into a confrontation with Russia. At the same time, she emphasized that Russia does not currently have the capacity to conquer and occupy the entirety of Ukraine.
