Tbilisi Begins Slope Stabilization Project along Tskneti Highway

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced that slope stabilization works are underway along the Tskneti highway near the “Kaklebi” restaurant in the Vake district. The project, aimed at ensuring the safety of vehicle movement in an area prone to landslides, will take approximately eight months to complete and will involve partial traffic restrictions.

The slope in question has shown signs of instability and has previously been supported with temporary concrete slabs. To address the issue comprehensively, the Infrastructure Development City Service of Tbilisi City Hall is implementing a long-term solution.

The project will include:

  • Installation of anchors for added stability.
  • Placement of a steel mesh to prevent erosion.
  • Construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall for enhanced structural support.

“The slope has shifted, and it poses a problem for safe vehicle movement. This fundamental intervention will resolve the issue and ensure safety from start to finish,” Kaladze stated during a Tbilisi Municipality Government session.

Traffic Impact and Timeline

For safety reasons, traffic on the affected section of the Tskneti highway will be partially restricted during the construction period. The project is expected to be labor-intensive, with completion anticipated in eight months.
